XF 2.1 Conversations Revoked for Usergroup

I have made all the options as 'never' for one particular usergroup on our board, but even though I've effectively banned them, they still have the option of replying to existing conversations, and members who aren't a member of that 'banned' usergroup can still message them.

Is this correct, or am I missing something?

Those don't apply to existing conversations.

Ah yes, I see - thanks @Brogan .

But once a conversation is initiated under the old permissions, there's nothing I can do to prevent it carrying on, even if I revision the permissions?

Other than an outright ban, there's nothing built in which prevents replying to existing conversations.
