Tried a default theme and then my regular theme (Flat Awesome) and saw the dismiss option only in a PC that I started. Maybe this is expected behavior? I've never dismissed/kicked anyone before.

I asked this before but got no reply.
Is there a feature to limit the number of posts in an private conversation. If not there will be 100,000+ posts hidden private chatting conversations in members inbox, lagging the server and sucking all the system resources.

I know you have a feature where admin can prune members old conversations. But it will not work since many members want to keep some old important conversations, if we force delete them users will get unhappy. So we just need a system to limit the conversation length and number of conversations per person's inbox

That's not currently a feature but it'd be possible to add it. The only thing is, it wouldn't work retrospectively. It'll only prevent new messages from sending a conversation over the limit.

Yeah that's good to limit the number of replies per conversation.
Please try to add an option to limit the number of conversations user can have in his inbox too. He can receive conversations but he can not start new conversations if he has exceeded the limit of conversations he can have in his inbox.

As example user A has these limits
1. 500 max conversations kept in his inbox, if he want to start new he has to delete one of the old. But other users can add him to conversations they have started.

2. A conversation can have 100 maximum number of replies, if it exceeds that participants get a message saying reply number is over the limit

This actually seems like a bug. It is supposed to be checking the size of each recipient's inbox before allowing the message to be created.

Found an inline style property in "convess_conversation_add_groups" template that is in an extra div around the "linkGroup convessPopupLocation" for conversation groups: style="position:block;". I am pretty sure this will not work. Somehow position and display got mixed. I recognized that the position of the participation group popup menu moved away after the last upgrade or so.

+Reminder: "Starred Conversations" need the conversation wrapper... ;)
That's actually a User Essentials feature.

Fixed in the next version.

Ah yeah but that we have turned off some time ago (and deleted and rebuilt the search index afterwards), so that doesn't explain it in our case... unless it's still doing something even though conversation indexing disabled...?

Because now that you say it, I do use the PMs a lot.

ok, testing...

CONFIRMED!

I just sent a PM, and the number of posts in "Postings" dropped by one.

I can reproduce this now.

@Daniel Hood your conversation indexing still seems to be doing something even though it's disabled for us.
Fixed in the next version.

Should be available later today.

Didn't fix for me.

Installed this.

Just in case, went through the hoops:

Enabled search indexing in ConvEss Options

Deleted ES index

Rebuilt search index ("all")

Disabled search indexing in ConvEss Options

Deleted ES index

Rebuilt search index ("all")

-> 15 posts in my "Postings" tab

-> wrote 1 PM

-> 14 posts...

-> wrote another PM

-> 13 posts in "Postings"

Problem persists.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Are you sure the search handler file uspdated?
How can I confirm that?

I upgraded the add-on as usual (unzip, upload the contents of the upload directory, overwriting previous stuff, then used the convess xml to upgrade the add-on; 1.11.3 it says I have in the "List Add-ons")

BTW @Daniel Hood

When I disable ConvEss completely, the problem goes away (I just tried that; disable whole ConvEss add-on; write a PM; number of posts in "Postings" remain the same, unlike when the add-on is enabled).

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I realized the problem is my fault. The zip was messed up a little. I just swapped it out (since not many people have updated yet). Anyone that updated earlier and is affected by this bug should download the zip again and it's resolved. Thanks @markku for all your help.

Yep! Works now :)

(y) Such a load off, really hated not being able to pinpoint for months if it was an add-on or something with our server environment or something else that was causing the disappearing posts in Postings.

Finally resolved - yay! Thanks to you too!
