Contests and giveaway prizes

hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone is doing contests, competing for prizes on their forums or simply doing giveaways?

If so, what is everyone giving away or doing for their contests?

Just out of interest, where does the gear come from for the competitions? Is it given to you to by manufactureres / suppliers or do you buy it in / review it and give it away as a promotion for the site (or is it a bit of both)?

The bigger prizes are from the manufacturers or retailers. They are often keen to do it, even when we charge a fee.
We've been buying smaller prizes to give away. It's resulted in more listings on competition websites like The Prize Finder which means more sign-ups from people wanting to enter.

I have never had the time to set up a competition page or anything of that sort does it work for you?
