XF 1.5 Contact form spam in Xenforo

In the past month or two, I'm seeing an increase in spam posted using the "Contact Us" link on a Xenforo forum. Nothing special about the spam... the standard "cheap Viagra" pitch from Russia or China.

Using noCaptcha. Enabled for Guests. Shows up on the contact form when I log out.

Anyone else seeing this? Is it human spam, or have bots figured out how to bypass noCaptcha Recaptcha now?

I changed the Captcha to a question/answer verification and the spam stopped.

I don't want to do that globally, though. I would like to be able to do that just for the Contact form.

What would be very nice is a plugin that allows you to specify a separate anti-spam option for the contact form. Any takers?

Same problem here with XF2 and Captcha (question/answer) enabled.

Changing to Question and Answer verification didnd't help at all for me. Human spammers. However, the volume of spam has dropped off significantly since I first posted - no idea why.

I haven't checked to see if contact form data is sent to Akismet - would be useful if it were, because I do get a lot of keyword-rich contact spam.

Same problem here. I have SFS, Askimet both enabled along with reCaptcha (No Captcha). Still getting link spammers in the contact form.

Tried that. It made no difference. My assumption is these are not bots but human spammers.

I went back to noCaptcha reCaptcha. Easier for regular non-spamming members.

They most likely ARE humans. I get the same type of stuff over on my IPS site, but ironically I don't get any on my XF site.

did you use easy or hard questions? I use questions that are site topic specific.

You can check in the acp to see what questions the spammer answered to get past the question, so you know what questions to change.
