confused on slashes

can someone explain the "escape" reason for this code?
i don' t understand the syntax, nor what it's called to google it more.

yes, this particular example is from an addon, but it's not the first time i've seen it used.

It's the namespace delimiter: http://php.net/manual/en/language.namespaces.php
