Changing from PHP 5.2 to 5.3 question

I have the choice of going to PHP 5.3 which the host recommends. What of anything will happen to my installation when I switch from 5.2 to 5.3? Are there any pre or post steps that I must take with xenForo?

You should be mostly alright to go to 5.4 if you wanted aswell.
