Hello, I have tried every method I can find to upgrade the forum, and nothing is working. the one click one just throws a 405 error, and manual upgrades don't work either. I finish transferring the files and go to the install link again, as directed in the manual, and it only causes the file to download instead of going to the web page. I am stuck on how to fix this.

Usually this type of error caused by two things: the client using an HTTP method that the server does not support for that specific URL, or incorrect configurations in the web server settings. There are a few things to check that can help in diagnosing the cause of the error and then fix it.

Check files such as .htaccess or nginx.conf for rules that restrict specific HTTP methods. Another thing to look for is the file and folder permissions. What about the server error log? Any recent messages logged in there pertaining to this?

What is the install url that you point your browser to?

Currently restoring the backup right now but I never see any errors.

https://forums.creatureverse.net/install is what it should be if I am reading the manual correctly.

What exactly am I looking for in the configs? I am very much a newbie when it comes to server management.

Yes, that's the correct url.

Are you on a shared hosting or do you have a Vps or Dedicated box? If the former than you must contact your host about checking the nginx.conf as per my suggestion.

Can you please post here the contents of your .htaccess file?

Have you tried the manual update?

as Rene_V quted from me I have indeed tried manual upgrades and when I follow the instructions, it merely causes the file to download instead of loading the install page. I even tried directly loading the php file itself just on the off chance something weird was going on and nothing.

if you're downloading files, it means your webserver is not configured to render php as html (more or less).

This can be because you have a directive in your htaccess or similar to use a certain version of php and your upload killed that?

the issues I was having is the one click upgrade was throwing errors, manual upgrades were throwing errors and I followed every step in the manual and the result was the same. I looked things up and made the changes to ensure that everything should work properly. What I did to get it working I have absolutely no clue.
