i think someone the numbers matter

It works because your choices are: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in your custom field. If it were how you began, my code would have worked.

The red bit is your choice.

{$user.customFields.service.4}

Just as this is a choice

{$user.customFields.service.army}

My post a above was to make it more understandable, which is how you started, changing it to numbers just made it that more confusing.

i tried your code with the words abd i had the fields the words too and it never worked it wasnt until i changed them to numbers that it worked, maybe its the way its stored in the db or something

Do you understand why it works with the numbers?

Where I have "army" here is what goes at the end of {$user.customFields.service.army}

Currently, from your last screenshot you have numbers (1,2,3,4,5) in your choices in the custom field, so yeah it will only work those numbers.

i tried to communicate to you that i tried with the "words" in the code and in the profile field settings at the same time and it did not work

it wasnt until i switched the code and the profile field setting to numbers that this worked
