XF 1.2 can i search based on username

i have integrated my xenforo with another script and they have what is called a predefine menu

it is only configure to recognize user names

like this for example
http://xenforo.com/community/conversations/add?to=RoldanLT
by setting it from script AP to be something like this
http://english4me.net/Forum/index.php?conversations/add&to=%USER%

but it doesn't work when searching for member topics or post because they are set to search using the member id
like
http://xenforo.com/community/search/member?user_id=42421

is there anyway that i can change the link so that it works with something like this
http://xenforo.com/community/search/member?user_id=RoldanLT

can user_id to be changed to something else in the link so that it work

What link/page needs to accept the username as a search parameter?

This will likely be a matter of PHP programming to accept different input. Probably post a request for a programmer:
