I'm surpised the justice system allows companies to drag out proceedings in such a way, I really am, it speaks rather poorly of the "Justice" system as a whole, if that's all companies need to do.

Do they not get awarded costs.

In everyday conversation, they sound like any other human being. It's considered rather odd and a bit pretentious if you speak like that outside of court

This action places unnecessary burden on defendants both financially and morally.

That is something I could say in everyday speech; that said: I blame those elocution lessons my parents heavily advised me to take when I was younger- it certainly didn't help that my teacher studied law at some point in her life.
