XF 1.4 Browsers Freezing

I've had an issue with the latest 1.4.x releases where the site will often freeze the entire browser of the user, it has occurred in both Google Chrome (latest) and Mozilla Firefox (latest). It literally will freeze the users browser to an "Unresponsive" nature and then un-freeze after a few moments.

We've not had this issue in the past and I cannot personally find the culprit to the issue. I have had some users claim that disabling the ad's on our site helps, but I have confirmed with or without the ad's it will still freeze the xenforo site itself.

Any ideas what to check?

This would be more down to a browser issue, but having a lot of video embeds load at once, for example, could cause problems. Have you tried disabling browser add-ons?
