Bouncing emails

I have a very old forum that's been around since 1999 so of course many users have bad email addresses.. I have tried sending them pm's some answer some never answer or fix anything... I don't want to ban people but I have almost 40k members and would love a solution for this... any ideas?

Not a fan of the Guest / Unconfirmed being the same usergroup would like a guest user group then a unconfirmed usergroup that shows them nothing but a confirm your email alert and then when they do put them in the registered usergroup... Then be able to put those email bouncers in the unconfirmed group manually until they fix their email

I have it figured out now I just reworded the resend confirmation email phrase and just started putting them in the awaiting email status.. Of course people will use those throw away email addressees that expire and will have to do it all over again but
