XF 2.2 Block private messages from a user

As a normal user, is there a way to block receiving messages from a particular user?

There is the ignore function which will prevent that member's messages from being seen.

Emailing or private messaging you? If he is actually emailing you then block that user in your email. If you mean private messaging then leave the next conversation and then you will get the option to ignore any future conversations from that user.

I find myself wanting PM to be a permission. But I also see the logic of this:

"If you don't someone to be able to PM people just ban them."

This may be duplicitous but I like someone to do something publicly before banning so it doesn't seem to biased or capricious.

For some reason I don't understand, when looking at a member's permissions, EVERYTHING is on NO. Yet he can still use the forum freely.



I'm trying to DENY this user from using the conversations feature. Is my only option to then choose NEVER? And is it irreversible? Can I later reinstate the permission?

The permissions analyser will identify how the final value is being calculated.

If the member is in another user group with the permission set to Yes, that will override the No.

In this case you would have to set it to Never for that member, to override the Yes.

Yes - you just set the permissions as and when you want.
