This is a bit of a test of the new Q&A thread type, but also a useful topic.

What are your favorite or most useful Xenforo 2.x addons?

  • One reply per add-on. Can describe why it's useful. Links to said add-on would be helpful.
  • Upvote replies if already mentioned rather than duplicate replying

It's free, it provides lazy loading for attachments, so it speeds up page views --- especially for those with large amounts of embedded attachments. In fact, I see no reason not to install it.

A hidden gem created by the late Liam (RIP)

It speeds up moderation actions such as inserting replies while locking and applying prefixes.

Of course Bob's articles too :)

Needs several improvements but it's an essential addon for one of my forums:

1. Thread Filter: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/thread-filter-by-addonslab.6034/

Can't imagine anyone using custom thread fields without this addon. This addon is super important for quickly finding threads and narrowing it down to one's specific search criteria. Like "car" + "red" + "1968" + "US" and it finds every thread with these criteria.
So it helps discovering your content and gives results the user wanted to see.

2. Enhanced Attachment System 2 by au lait

Unfortunately can't be bought anymore. It has usergroup/node specific attachment options, like one can set attachment size, or how often one can attach things, or has a pdf viewer, or lets you download all attachments at once with a single click, or lets you move attachments, or lets you rename... and so many more

3. Advanced Forms: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/advanced-forms-for-xenforo-2-1.5632/

Has tons of options and if you want organized threads, this is a must. Let's say your forum is about PC parts. And people are looking to buy a new PC. Instead of letting them open a thread with the content of "I need a good PC", you can force them to use the form. So the user needs to answer questions like "budget", "gaming or office" etc. etc. so you get information from him and then the users can help based on the answers.

4. Multi-Prefix: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/multi-prefix.6281/

Super important. Every thread in your forum should have at least 1 prefix. It helps discovering content, makes a well organized structure where you can see with one look what the thread is about without even visiting it. Like "selling" "car" "new" as 3 prefixes is enough to describe the thread in the thread title. Don't need to visit the thread, it has every useful information.

7. Keyword Linking: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/keyword-linking-by-siropu.7406/

Helps with content discovery. You can forward keywords to your content. Like if you have a thread about person x, you can set a keyword to this thread. And from then on everytime this name is mentioned somewhere in your forum, that keyword appears and people can click on it and find that content which otherwise wouldn't be found.

Here's a great one by @Kirby
[Kirby] Public Account Upgrades
It makes your account upgrade page public so guests can see the description and price of memberships instead of a no permission message. They are prompted to login if they click to buy. Very cool!
Unfortunately it is not in Resources, it was attached to one of his posts here after I requested it. Maybe he will add it!
