Best Add-ons for XF Forum

Hello All,

I am about to start my first XF forum in 10 years. My question...what XF Add-Ons do you add to every (or most) new installations of XF? For example, so far I have:

App for Cloudflare https://xenforo.com/community/resou...r Cloudflare,and setting adjustments a breeze

Image Optimizer for XF 2.0 [Paid] https://xenforo.com/community/resources/image-optimizer-for-xf-2-0.6030/

Can anyone share the list of add-ons they would add to a new forum site?

In case it matters, the new site will be a gaming site designed to support a major upcoming MMORPG.

@Bob 's Article Management System (AMS) and Showcase or Item Management System or User Blog system dependent on needs.

AMS would be important for sure. IMS (item management system) can be used to create a database of things which could be good for a game.

I can vouch for Digitalpoint's security addon. I haven't used the others personally though, Ozz does make good addons.

I find these addons very useful for my site:
  • ($) XF's official Media Gallery
  • [AH] Gamer Profiles (if your running a gaming related community like mine, that can show their games on steam/xbox/playstation in their postbit)
  • ($) Advanced BBCode Pack by Xon [though you could add your own if you know how to code them, I don't, so an addon helps save tons of time]
  • ($) A bunch of @AndyB's addons. One $35/yr sub gets you access to ALL his addons, 400 of them
    (most are simple little additions/tweaks; but the calendar addon is really nice)
    • Similar Threads
    • Thread Title Manager
    • Calendar
    • Bump Limit (helps reduce bumping)
    • Amazon Parser (& Parser All) [Helps add the company's affiliate ID to all amazon links on-site]
  • Better Analytics (digitalpoint) - more specific details in google analytics for various actions
  • ($) Discord Integration by NixFifty (if they have one; considering its a game community iirc)
  • ($) DragonBytes Credits can add "gamification" to a gaming community; shop addon is optional. Users can pay for services using the credits if you wanted.
  • Known Bots (free addon that tells you which bots are on your site, what page they're on, etc)
I have others, but don't consider them my "top most useful" addons.

Why? There are several 3rd party add-ons that can easily do what XFMG do and exceed it for this use instance, allowing a LOT more functionality that would be beneficial than a simple media gallery entry. One well known developer I know of has at least 2 that would work (and maybe even a 3rd if pushed) better than XFMG could even think of doing. Honestly.... XFMG is getting a little long in the tooth and needs some serious attention paid to it. Case in point.. you have the ability to "mirror" images from a forum node... but you still can't mirror any custom thread fields that may be used in that forum node.
Many "non-core" add-ons have already been mentioned.. but if search is going to be a big part, then XFES and Xon's Search Essentials are an important choice. Content discovery is important... and we all know that the standard mySQL search has a close relationship with the south end of a north bound donkey.
