Batch Update Users: Does 'Delete' Rename Users?

Does batch deleting users rename them, or do their names simply not exist anymore?

It does not rename the users. Messages will retain the username but it will not be attached to an account. A new account can be registered with the same name.

So, I can use it to prune inactive users who have a zero post count and still be GDPR compliant.
