XF 2.0 Banned Users

Imported from vbulletin and users previously not banned are finding themselves banned, in vb we had a "promotions" usergroup where users in Registered had to post 5 times to become fully registered.

Could this be the cause?

Also when users register in xenforo what usergroup do they go into?

And any way of sorting it?
