Backing Up Site

We are moving to a new host on Wednesday, and just beforehand I am going to use cPanel to backup the site. What is the best way to close the forum during this time?

You can uncheck the board active option in the ACP.

Is there an easy way to go "read-only" during this process?

Disable post, like, edit, etc. permissions for the Registered user group and disable registration.
