Do the results have to show at the bottom of the page or can they be hidden by a conditional so that only an Admin can see them?

I am presuming the answer is no because Google would need to see this listing at the bottom for this mod to work, but I am not 100% sure how this works, I just know if Anthony uses it, then it's good to me!

Google need to see it, yes. Wrapping it in any conditional would make it useless, unless you wrapped it specifically so only Google seen it, however; you then violate their TOS again by feeding search engines different content to the user, specifically designed to increase rankings. The only time cloaking or such methods are deemed legal, is Adsense is a big one... being some sites feed Adsense condensed versions of the page to improve ad relevancy, or if the page contains irrelevant material, some large sites only feed the specific content to Google... such an instance would be a large product based online store, where the template content is useless, and what Google really only needs is the specific content area for each page to assist in determining each pages exact content.

If you keep the settings small, ie. 10 - 20 terms only, you clean the irrelevant terms out as you happen to see them, banning them from appearing again, you should never have an issue with using a mod like this.

If you bump up the cloud to 50 terms per page, set the clearance setting to some ridiculous insane amount of days, ie. so never clear the cloud if the term hasn't been clicked through from the SE in x days... then you could do yourself a lot of harm, especially as Google determines a pages subject relevance can and does change in forum environments. Threads start at x, endup more based on y subject.

I wouldn't say that actually... its not something you need to go chasing around or monitoring, because if you set the keywords low, ie. DI has it default at 10 I believe, and 30 day expiry... so only the most relevant top 10 keywords should show for any page, and those should be what the page is being found for the most.

If you stumble onto it, ie. looking in your stats or viewing the page as an admin, you see some completely irrelevant term listed that you don't want associated with your page, could even be a porn term or such, then you could copy it, search it in the ACP, remove it instantly which bans it from being used again.

I haven't looked at mine since installing... I only review things every few months... I look at them when viewing pages, quick browser over, etc. If you keep the ACP settings minimal, then you really don't have to worry. But every now and then, some stupid thing like a single letter or such, will become a prominent term, which isn't what you want, or suddenly you see some keyword phrase in your stats climbing up the numbers, so you investigate because it looks odd.

Leave it minimal, its near set and forget. Expand it outwards... you do need to be a bit more pro-active with what you're doing so you don't get yourself banned.

You have to think also... if you have the keyword quantity low, then irrelevant terms are less likely to be within the cloud, so then Google isn't improving your page for irrelevant terms, thus the next setting of 30 days, then drops the term out of the backend without you doing a thing. You could change that setting down to 15 days if you wanted, depending on your traffic throughput... but for most, that would kill the purpose, so 30 is a good setting.

Thinking about it more... the optimal approach to using this is that you might capture 10 - 20 terms per page for a 3 - 6 month period, then that gives Google plenty of time to index and rank your page upwards... then you keep it at 10 per page and change the days to 15, so then Google should be delivering atleast one visit per keyword you have tagged every 15 days... because if not, then the keyword is more than likely irrelevant or not worth capturing.

This would then quickly empty all irrelevant terms from the ACP for you, and just leaving the most searched terms as they have weighted upwards for clickthrough.

If you mean manually, then that is against Google TOS... so I hope DI doesn't include that in this mod myself... as that would then deem this to be a search engine spam mechanism vs. valid and compliant with Googles terms.

It won't showup until visitors hit the page in question from a search engine... which is a sweet feature IMHO.

• a member report feature for unwanted keywords
• a list of banned keywords in admincp

Is there a way with the keyword search to stop is completely reloading each time you ban a term, and then having to re-enter the word each time into the filter field?

When I get full URL's showing up, I enter http into the filter field, everything appears, then I click the red x and it resets the entire page, having to re-enter the http again.

Basically... the same as like the templates and such do! You can go into a template, save it, and it remembers the filter field contents and returns you to the specific templates filtered.

Another thought to your specific issue Puntocom, is that if you want to feed keyword phrases into page, you would do so by just using them in your posts / editing a specific pages post and enter the keywords into it.

If a thread goes over 10 pages, then every page will usually have a different contextual meaning at the mathematical level, or what is called keyword cocurrence and semantic connectivity, at the algorithmic design. These are what Google use in their algorithm. This mod already helps improve each pages unique ranking for terms already defined by the algorithm on an individual basis, not a thread basis.

If you wanted to change a pages meaning, inserting keyword terms into the cloud will not achieve that, as its bigger than one keyword phrase or a few at the footer of the page. If the page isn't getting found for the phrase / term, then it won't by injecting artificially either, even if you go back and insert it into posts within that page. You would have to change that pages complete semantic connectivity, which means the overall meaning of that page determined by Google using words, phrases, synonyms, etc.

This is why forums are so unique when it comes to targeting Google, because a specific thread topic can start at apple and by the time the thread has finished, its talking about the Audi R8. So page meanings change contextually across the thread, thus what each page will be found for as well.

This mod will help increase the rankings for terms the page is already being found for vs. what you are really asking needs the creation of specific threads / pages, that you talk about a very limited focus topic and ensure that topic remains exactly specific to the title. That is how static pages are done for targeting specific terms already, and have been as far back as I can remember.

You gotta get hits from the search engines first for it to display. If you want just do a search on one of the search engines for a keyword you know your site is indexed for and then click on the link to your site and it should show then with that keyword in the box.
