XF 1.1 Avatar storage location in DB

I am trying to work out my custom avatar import from VB and on one of my test databases I see the user has an avatar, there is avatar date, width and height in their user record.

What I can't find is where the system knows that avatars are stored. Is there a table entry somewhere that records this info?

xf_user.avatar_date will contain a zero if the use doesn't have an avatar.

Yup, I have come to realise that. What stumps me is how the system knows *where* the avatar is as I cannot find any table that makes reference to the storage location of an avatar.

The location where the avatars are located is hard coded.

Ok, thats a start. I will search the source and see what I find.

.... and I found nothing aside from externalDataPath set to "data".

For something that is so prominent in Xenforo, finding out info about them is like breaking into a bank@@@@@!

Thanks for your time Andy, I didn't get to the bottom of it but worked out a way to get my customavatars imported and allocated correctly eventually.
