That is a quote box, not a code box.

But in editor, when using CODE tag include smilies and switch WYSIWYG, it's auto smile:

That is by design.
Smilies are not parsed between code tags, for obvious reasons.

Showing it on edit is a change in 1.2 as I was trying to fix/prevent a different issue. I'll have to weigh these up...

I'm rolling this change back as some other changes make it less significant anyway.
