XF 1.2 attachment upload error xf 1.2????

I just migrated my site from VB4 last week. So far I am a huge XF fan and am very glad we made the move.

I do have an issue that popped up today that I was hoping you guys could help me resolve.

It seems the image uploader has been giving us some trouble.

This is the error that keeps on occurring.

I didn't change any attachment settings so I don't know why it would all of the sudden start doing that...

Anyway, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

This is a link to the thread where the issue got brought to my attention today.

Thank you in advance :)

Alright, now I am really confused.

I went in and edited the attachment size permission in 'options' and upped the file size limit to 5500kb and thumbnail size, etc and it still gives the error.

It allows me to upload this 10kb file but not anything larger than 100kb even though the attachment permission is set to much higher.

This pic I grabbed off of a user uploaded fine

This one I took from a thread and it is only 364kb and it just gives an error.

Are you able to upload with all add-ons disabled?

Open a console window in the browser and check for error messages.
Chrome has one built in - right click -> Inspect Element -> Console

I don't believe it is an addon. I just tried disabling all of them and it still occurred. All I am running for addons are the Xengallery, BBcode in user status, and the XF Advanced search. It did this from the start when the software was first installed but I thought it was just a size limit permission causing it because it let me uplaod a small image but not a larger one. I was busy after the migration working all week so hadn't had time to finish with little odds and ends like those kinds of adjustments until this weekend.

I attached an upload of the error form the consol.... Looks like an internal server error.

Here is what my error log said from the Cpanel: A lot of that is redirect issue. I am also having problems with my redirect script but I am trying to work that out with the webhost since it seems to be a sercuity permission of some sort not allowing the links to redirect. You can see the same 500 interal mixed in but it isn't any different in this log.

Wait a minute. Now that you mention it I just remembered the night before I migrated, on the old site the pic uploader crapped the bed. This was also the same night the software was installed.

Thanks for the help.

I will contact them and tell them to look at the error log and sort it out. Dealing with them is like pulling teeth. Last weekend they messed up an SSL install and the site got knocked offline for a day because they never processed the new DNS.

I contacted the webhost. Thanks for the direction Brogan. The issue has been resolved!

This is what was happening:

Taking a look through the Apache error log, I was able to find the issue through replication, which revolved around an issue with mod_security. I have made a modification to the mod_security configuration file to resolve the issue, and have been able to successfully test uploading a file larger than 100kb.
