Apple products and pricing

Apple continues to grow more rapidly than Android, being one platform, one product, against one platform, many products. The comparison changes significantly when correctly compared and read statistically vs. quoting some selective news sources.
Ah, gotta love that spin.

Don't get me started on the Patent wars - the whole thing is stupid and your bloody stupid Patent system has a lot to answer for.

Ok, Samsung did sort of shoot themselves in the foot by making one of their phones look almost exactly like an iPhone though, that was a bit stupid.

When talking about smartphone market share? That'd make a lot of sense :).
About as much sense as combining every smartphone vendor under a single OS umbrella to compare to Apple?

You can divide it by OS, by manufacturer, by country, or any other silly category you want. The bottom line is Apple manufactures a single phone using a single OS, with a single app store and a single application (iTunes), but has developed it into part of an overall IT strategy to allow it to be one of the largest companies on Earth. Thats better than being Microsoft, Motorola, HTC, Google, Samsung, or whoever.

The iPhone naysayers are proof of Apple's success.

Let's not forget one important thing, they maybe the largest company on Earth but only for the consumer market, thank god. Luckily we have companies like BSD, HP, IBM, Dell, Microsoft, Amazon, Ubuntu, RedHat, (Linus Torvalds), Cisco, Brocade etc etc which make all that you see on the Apple Bandwagon possible.

I pray that Apple stay in the consumer market (which I believe is where they belong) and let the grown-ups do the real tech :)

Yeah, I guess we should change how things were done before Apple made the iPhone when you compare OS market share then.

They still do it by makers, but as there are only a few OS now, it has generally fallen to comparison of the OS, and not the individual phone makers.

Now, Intel or AMD, ATI or NVIDIA? :p

Dont be stupid, there is no discussion on this. Intel and Ati. Anyone who claims otherwise shall be burned.

Analysts state a current increase in Android is only due to many iPhone purchasers holding out for the new iPhone 5 release in just over a month.

you state analysists and experts quote this that and the other a lot.... wanna start posting some links to these expert opinions you like to quote so much?

I just finished a 10,000 word technology breakdown on all of the companies you think are so great, outlining their major weaknesses.

I was just creating ready to hit post when I realize I'm posting here with my real name and I am their partner in far too many accounts.

Discretion being the better part of valor...

Pardon? Ok, let's put it into simple terms:

Cisco, Brocade, Juniper make up the internet.

iCloud is to be hosted on Amazon and Azure, they use technology created by Linus, Ubuntu and Microsoft.

The hardware these systems run on is created by HP, Dell etc.

Apple create the consumer end, not the backoffice systems which make all the lovely consumer things "happen".

Oh and let us not forget the folks that have slaved for many years coding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Software_Distribution which Apple then took for the base of MacOSX. All they did was slap a fancy GUI on top and release it to the masses.

Disclaimer: I own several PCs, running Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, I also own iPhones etc. I just get so p***ed off when everyone thinks that Apple changed the world, they didn't. All of their success is built upon other Companies coming up with innovative ideas at the backend.

Granted, they made it easier for the Consumer and I believe that is where Apple belong, they have no grounds to be in the backoffice.

Your kidding right? Apple has been in the server market since late OS 7.6. Not directly at first but via WebSTAR, MGI for hosting Majordomo for mailing lists and Communigator for industry level mail servers, to name a few. I have OS X, Ubantu and FreeBSD servers and honestly OS X and FreeBSD go pretty much toe to toe, maybe OS X might even be a bit more powerful. OS X you get all the power of BSD including ability to use either ports or apt plus a far better GUI then something like GNOME.

Firstly, not me, Apples patent, Governments globally manage Patents, not me... so unsure why the of "your" is directed at me!

Second... absolutely, Samsung shot themselves. Motorola did it with their tablet... now the same hot water.

That would be the same as already posted, being one specific press article or such, which can be completely biased.

Have you heard of Google? Use that, and you will quickly find such things for yourself, without the ability to come at me stating bias or such. Its really a quick and easy thing to use, Google... when you type the right words into it looking for specific things, and then categorize into the right area, ie. Web, News, Images, etc, you get the information you want back out. If you read just one, two or three locations, then you get limited scope. It takes a little time, but I'm sure you can read as much as I can.

Top analysts worldwide say that pages loaded via google about apple are altered in favor of apple if the os is destected as an apple product and against apple if it is another company. Experts agree.

Your as in the US Patent system. Its the US patent system that's the problem. You don't get Patent squatting in the UK (or anywhere else as far as I know) - only the US.

But then in the UK (and EU as far as I know), you can't patent an idea or how software works. i.e. pinch to zoom bollocks. Some of the patients I see reported as being filed and granted in the US just make me laugh. Its amazing anyone to can any business in the US without tripping over some sort of patent.
