Strange. I remember when I upgrade from Vista to 7, setup has failed because CS2 (Compability issue warning)

May during an upgrade - but I already had it Windows 7 (and before that I was using it on my Windows 8 laptop - to small of a screen to mess with so removed it) set up on the desktop before I installed it. No warnings given.

I used it on win7 for around 3 years without issue. Perhaps the upgrade from vista (worst OS ever made) had some residual files or whatever that caused this, strange though but have you tried installing under a clean fresh install of win7? You'll find that you probably won't have any compatibility issues with a clean install rather than a upgrade from vista >> win7.
