XF 2.3 Any way to disable service worker?

Hello,

One of my boards is private and password protected with htaccess credentials.
The JS service worker is causing cache issues and I had to disable it by editing the service_worker.js file and add a "return" statement at the very beginning of the fetch listener.
I then have a warning in the admin cp saying one of the files doesn't have the expected content and I have to re-apply my modification whenever there is a Xenforo update.
I can live with that but I was wondering if there is a better, cleaner way to do this?

I'm having this exact same issue right now, but it only appears to happen on Firefox and not Brave. I get 401 after closing and restarting, which I can remedy by clearing the cache (every time) or ctrl+shift+R.

I narrowed this down to the JS service worker. If you unregister that and immediately close FF and restart, you are prompted for the directory name/pass. If you unregister it and then browse somewhere, it restarts the SW so if you close and restart FF, you get 401.

This seems to happen only on a test installation where the forum is in the root public_html directory. I've never had this issue when I bury a test copy in /test etc.

What was your specific workaround? I can also live with that on a test installation, if it fixes the issue.
