I've tested XenForo 1.5.16 and didn't find additional fields for links and websites on the registration form. It seems that you are using some addon. At registration. I am using xf1.
We've already fixed this. You can install the dev version or wait for the release (1-2 weeks)I got some errors..
I see now, thank you. Anyway, these fields are not in the default configuration, so the plugin may not check them. We don't add new features to the XenForo 1 plugin now. Our plugin effectively protects registrations with other parameters.XenForo 1.5 has a homepage field and custom profile fields. No addons are needed for this functionality.
If there are links in the custom user fields then its very likely the user is a spammer.
If there is a link in the homepage field then this does not mean the user is a spammer, but the probability goes up significantly. It depends on what website the user links to. For example: many user will fill in google, facebook or our url. This is innocent. Spammers will fill in some dodgy online store selling typical spammer products like viagra, rolex, get rich schemes, etc.
The addon clearly lets through spam registrations that use profile fields to enter spam links. I would say that 99% of spammers post spam links in profile fields. IMHO its something that needs to be checked by any antispam service for forums. Our plugin effectively protects registrations with other parameters.
Hello.Does this addon support the xenforo spam cleaner? i.e. when a user is spam cleaned is the user added to cleantalk as a spammer?
We will investigate it as soon as possible and contact you when we get any results. No, I am talking about the Spam Cleaner functionality within XenForo
We can configure XenForo options to submit spammers to StopForumSpam, ProjectHoneyPot, etc. We should be able to do the same for CleanTalk.
Displaying statistics in XenForo admin panel should not be difficult. Many addons display statistics for StopforumSpam, ProjectHoneyPot, etc, etc. This is too difficult to implement this. It's unlikely we can do it.
Please implement the feature:
Check for spam links in XenForo profile fields at registration. This includes the 'homepage' field, custom fields and the 'about' field.
Hello.Members indeed post valid links, but it's a matter of evaluating the reputation of the URL. For example Google.com will have a better reputation than some online pharmacy in Pakistan.
If the reputation of the URL is worse than X then block the registration.
Cleantalk is already quite good at evaluating reputation according to a database of IP's and ASN's. All that is needed is to extend this to URL's. URL reputation is a parameteraat least as important as the other parameters.
And same for posts :
If you are not evaluating the reputation of the URLs in posts then how does cleantalk differentiate between valid posts with links and spam posts?
