Amazon SES Bounces Support 2021-03-19

We've been using this addon with SES. We're looking at upgrading to XF 2.3 but seems this addon isn't supported/updated.

Are there alternatives? What are people doing that have been relying on this addon to use SES that also want to upgrade to XF 2.3?

I asked the mod caretaker and he has no plans on updating or supporting.

I've had to have this addon removed from multiple sites, as it caused the xf_job table to grow to over 250GB

Yes I suffered through that as well. I thought it might be fixed.

This was on a recently upgraded board to XF2.3, so it doesn't look like it's fixed.

That issue has been resolved in v5.1.0b1: https://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/store/dragonbyte-mail.342/release/2215/

As there are no reported bugs in the v5.1 line, it can be considered stable at this time. v5.1.0 "Gold" will contain no changes other than a minor fix to the "Maintenance" AdminCP permission check as well as some internal changes to prepare for XF 2.3.8 & newer.

I really do try to make my change logs as readable as possible, and the issue has already been resolved for three months...

That will explain it then. I was provided with 5.0.3 during the XF2.3 upgrade.

I want to upgrade to XF 2.3.7 too. This addon is very important for me. What are the errors when using this addon with XF 2.3x?

@JulianD @Painbaker if the addon is installed on 2.3.4 the API url is invalid (404):
/api/amazon-ses/bounce

However if it was installed on XF 2.2 the URL is preserved and loads on 2.3.4

Could you please clarify this?

Do you mean that only in a fresh & new 2.3.4 installation it caused problams, but if you have an old installation of this addon already installed on XF 2.2, upgraded xenforo then to XF 2.34 that it still worked without problems after the upgrade?

Amazon SES bounce handling works perfectly in Dragonbyte Mail. I am closely checking it every day.

yes, no advertisement in the emails

I can not send a newletter weekly to thousands of users with Dragonbyte advertisement in it. Users would unsubcribe. I am even not sure whether this complies with the GDPR. My users are very sensitive for this and Dragonbyte refused in the past to offer an option to disable this in the emails.

There is no branding in the footer. I do have the Branding Free. You can see it in the sidebar here:

This option is for the branding on your forum index site, not for the branding within the emails of the newsletter. At least that is what he told me years ago.

There is no branding whatsoever in emails. I would not use it if there was. I did edit the email components according to my liking.
