The forum I help out on covers a popular series of video games, where users can create custom maps, and put them in our Resource Manager for ease of discovery. We've added various sub-categories, but it's impossible to anticipate every type of creation, so tags are a great option to supplement that.
However, while you can view a tag, e.g. "europe map", you cannot view that tag only for a particular category (or category + child categories). This would be helpful, as often users would be interested in a "europe map" for a specific iteration in the series. (But other times they might just want a map of their favorite region for any iteration of the series, so the current behavior is still useful in some cases)
Tag search filtering could be useful in the forums as well, but at least in our case the Resource Manager is where this could really help.
