Since around Sunday, all gmail email addresses on my forum seem to be bouncing back aka failure notice email being sent to me each time. By now I've probably received 1000+ undelivered emails.

This is what the opening part of the email says:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at lvpsxx-xx-1xx-1xx.vps.domain.co.uk.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<example@gmail.com>:
1xx.1xx.xx.xx failed after I sent the message.

xx is where i've changed the IP address.

Is anyone else having this issue? How can I fix tis problem ASAP.

This is effecting new registrations as well, as confirmation emails are not being sent out.

To set up an SPF on DNS you need to have a TXT record, and have something like the below in there

"v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:IPADDRESS +ip4:ANOTHERIP ?all"

As a quick fix, you could sign up for Mandrill and use them to send your e-mails out (I now use them as they have a nice bounce handler), but you'll still need to set up DKIM and SPF to work correctly, and both need to be done at DNS level.

It's already set since yesterday night, looks a little different from your example

v=spf1 ip4:xx.xx.xxx.xxx ~all

And SPF was also set to ON

Still being flooded with bounced emails.

Have I missed out anything?

Have you tried to validate your SPF?

Nope, I didn't know about this.. Just tested it now and got this message...

SPF record lookup and validation for: xxxxxxxx.com
SPF records are primarily published in DNS as TXT records.

The TXT records found for your domain are:

SPF records should also be published in DNS as type SPF records.

No type SPF records found.

Checking to see if there is a valid SPF record.

No valid SPF record found of either type TXT or type SPF.

Does it mean it's not working?

Correct, it's not picking up any SPF records for your domain name. When I put my site in there:

v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:109.233.119.207 +ip4:109.233.119.219 +include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all

SPF records should also be published in DNS as type SPF records.

Type SPF records found for the domain are:

Checking to see if there is a valid SPF record.

Found v=spf1 record for z22se.co.uk:
