I am trying to install an addon to my forums but when I click "Install Add-on" it takes me to a white page, no comments in the source.

In Chrome console it says the page responded with the status of 500

A 500 error is generic so you will need to check the server error log for further details.

Class DOMDocument not found. Should I rebuild something? Do you need anymore information?

    Has it ever worked?

You may want to contact your host as that suggests a server issue, specifically related to php-xml.

XenForo wouldn't have installed without that, so something must have changed.

@Brogan @Mike I needed to update PhP a while ago and I think I messed it up a little. I tried to install php-xml and there is a conflict. Is there a good way to update PhP?

Depends on whether you are running CentOS, Debian/Ubuntu, etc. It also depends on if you are installing via repositories or compiling the code yourself.

Generally with Debian it's a simple matter of adding the DotDeb repository by adding
    deb http://packages.dotdeb.org wheezy all
    deb-src http://packages.dotdeb.org wheezy all
    deb http://packages.dotdeb.org wheezy-php56 all
    deb-src http://packages.dotdeb.org wheezy-php56 all
into your /etc/apt/sources.list then running aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade.
