XF 2.1 add on issue

i just installed the forum and decided to add an add on , i uploaded all the files for the add on through ftp and when i go to the add ons section in admin panel, i do not see the add on in there, am i doing something wrong? sorry if this has already been answered in another post, i looked but i didn't see any.

If the add-on is not showing as installable then either it isn't an XF2 add-on (or it's incorrectly packaged), or the files were uploaded to the wrong location.

The most likely error is that you uploaded the upload directory in the unzipped addon package.

You need to upload the contents of the upload directory (typically the src folder; sometimes also the js folder; occasionally other locations).

it was an addon for an older version, thanks
