Hi,

Flooders know that starting certain hour your moderators are sleeping so it would be useful to have the ability to define multiple "Minimum time between messages" according to time. For example:

Between 7am to 11:59pm - 10 seconds
Between 12am to 6:59am - 30 seconds

Thanks,

What's wrong with leaving it at 30 seconds all of the time? Sounds like a lot of extra effort for the XenForo team for very little benefit.

I still can't see what the problem is with just leaving it at 30 seconds.

Decreasing the time during the day is likely to get these spammers to just spam then (remember, moderators do have other things to do so can still miss out on a spammer until they have posted quite a few threads, we've seen that here on XenForo during the day). Increasing the time during the night will only frustrate members who work night shifts and your international visitors as they are all awake then and ready to make posts. You're penalising them for being awake at the 'wrong' time.

It is not against spammers, it is against flooders (those using tools like XRumer).

It is not about penalizing international members... obviously an admin would know how to set the limits accordingly.

Anyway it is just a suggestion, relax ;)

Yes, it's a suggestion but I'm still allowed to discuss it. Discussion is part of evaluating any suggestion. ;)

You still haven't explained this. You say it's not about penalising international members and night shift workers, but you've just dismissed this rather than answering the valid point that these people would be subject to the same long flood limits as the flooders who apparently dive onto your forums when your moderators are asleep. So is this really fair to them?

Also what about during the day? Breakfast time, lunchtime, end of work/travel home time, evening meal time - all of these are times when moderators are busy with 'real life' things, so clearly they are prime times for your flooders. Maybe there should be multiple time slots to vary the flood limits?!

I've got a better idea. Set the single flood limit to something sensible like 30 seconds and discipline members who flood your forums with rubbish. There you go, easy solution that requires no extra coding by the XenForo team. :D
