Usually there is a message like this which appears in a block under the last reply if a message was published while you composed yours.
I do not see him anymore.
 
Does this happen consistently? I still receive the message, but it is only ever displayed if a new message is detected at the last time your draft is saved. It's possible that the new post was published after the draft was last saved but prior to your post being published.
 
I must say that I have seen the message appear several times recently so it is not persistent, and your explanation seems to justify the absence of the message in certain conditions.
