It bothers me for years and for years I can't find a solution, just keep getting "this is not a problem" and "you shouldn't worry about it". But I do worry about it and I do think this is a problem, and here is why.

From point of view of Google algorithm my site consist of 15% of pages that are OK and might compete with other in search results, and 85% of pages that are trash that is not good enough to be indexed. If I would be Google, I would say that this web-site is a big pile of garbage. 50% of that "trash that is not good enough to be indexed" - "pages" that are posts, and in addition those "pages" redirects to other pages.

I read in previous similar discussion "the official position" - that's how it should be, because in case a post will be moved, the link will still work.
But why do guests and spiders need to see those links in the first place? What for? Even if it wouldn't turn a site into pile of riderects. But it does.

Anyway, I'm not about "it should be changed for everyone". I'm about "I'd like to change it on my forum", but I have no idea how to do it.
If someone would push me in the right direction I would be greatly appritiate.

Here are my thoughts on what should be done, without touching how it can be done (yet).

1. Links to those "pages", which actually are posts and are parts of pages (threads) should be hidden for guests. (probably doable with adding conditionals in proper template(s)).
2. Those "pages" should return 410 to Google when it will revisit them. (probably doable with an add-on).

What do you say? Does it look like a reasonable/doable plan? Or I'm missing something?
