2 new permissions for user/groups

Add two new permissions to set.

First, react to the resource to download.
Second, comment on discussion thread before download.

If a member does this, the download button will be released and the member will be able to download the content.

I found an addon that did this, but it hasn't been updated since 2020. I believe it's a simple permission and can increase participation a little. Mainly for small forums, which have content with Resource Manager and which need feedback from their regulars.

My translation group is older than my forum.
Now that I've moved some downloads to the forum, I'd like more interaction there.

The problem is that now we have more than 1000 members and we don't have all that messaging. I want everyone to have at least 1 message. At least thank you, because the work I do is free, voluntary.

I also allow other groups to post, so it would be nice if they also received a thank you, as the "thank you" is our payment. It's the least I expect.

People download it, but end up not even leaving a “thank you”. And I think a large part of this is the lack of encouragement to post. I believe this because the % of registrations and the % of messages are very different.

I want to find more ways to get people to participate, even if it's just 1 message so they can learn how to post and where to post. Since there is no "how to use the forum guide", people just want to click the download button and go away. And they are doing it.

Download feedback makes sense in Rating. Not just in message. In post it is just the discussion. The person can post that they will enjoy the download, what they expect (if they expect to have fun), they can read the topic before downloading to find out what it's about... In other words, they will have the means to get to know the forum for a longer period of time. Even if it's just a few seconds before downloading and leaving.

And currently we have neither discussion nor rating.

Then a good solution would be to use the user promotion system so on registration no permissions to download and then users with more than x posts could get promoted to a secondary group with download permissions

This is a good suggestion. I didn't think about using the promotion system. It makes sense. Thanks.

So in criteria, we have an option to users with more than x posts. Will be nice another criteria with "user with more than x reactions" too.

Hmmmm...that's a problem. I saw that Cron runs every 20 minutes. If someone comments, they don't want to wait 20 minutes for the download to be released. Is there no way to reduce the time for the promotion Cron?

It's gray, I can't edit it.
 
Your way of thinking about things will simply create interactions that make no sense. Like to download it makes no sense, reply to download either because you will have a multitude of answers with only "thank you" even if the user does not care to thank the author of the resource. Use the promotion criteria as you indicated @Mr Lucky and let the time go, it will be beneficial for your forum.

He will wait 20 minutes in case he has registered on your forum only to download this resource. Is this type of member you are looking for? Just to increase your statistics? You will end up with dozens or hundreds of members who will have posted only one message and will leave, it will not bring anything to your community.
 
The intention is not simply to increase statistics. It’s about increasing interaction.

I believe that when a person registers on the forum with the aim of downloading, they will download and, once they have achieved their objective, they will leave. You will not read any topic or see if there is any subject of interest.

The objective is exactly to try to get the person to enter a topic and comment something. This will give you time to get to know the forum. Browse, read, and download content.

I'm not even demanding much, I'm just trying to get a few more seconds of activity from a user. Maybe he likes a topic and posts it. If he doesn't want to, he can post anything just to download it and leave too. But at least I would have a better chance of possibly someone being able to interact with it and like it.

It's like going into a store to buy a smartphone and taking extra time to look at the window and become interested in something. That's the time I would like.
 
As above, they're just going to write whatever is needed to authorise the download.
It's worthless content.

Both suggestions are unlikely to ever be added as permissions in the core.

Yes, it was this addon that I had mentioned.

I didn't get to test it because it hasn't been updated since 2020. I don't know if the current version of Xenforo would cause any type of error. And as future versions should change Xenforo a lot, I don't know how long this old Addon would last...
