Fixed Can't Start a Conversation With a Single Character Username

The input box for conversations requires 2 or more characters to start a user lookup. If you type a single character username in, the field will also remove your input.

The field should attempt verifying if the username is correct before removing it.

Optionally, if someone inputs a single character it can search for single character members, which well, it would end up only finding the user you are looking for.

Thank you for reporting this issue, it has now been resolved. We are aiming to include any changes that have been made in a future XF release (2.2.7).

Change log:

When typing conversation recipients allow a min length value of 1 for single character usernames.

There may be a delay before changes are rolled out to the XenForo Community.

This is sorted now but note that it still won't perform a search with one character. We deliberately prevent searches from happening until 2 characters have been entered.

In other words, you're able to type c and it will be accepted if you click on it but it won't perform a search therefore other usernames that start with the letter c will not be displayed.

I should note: you were never prevented from starting a conversation with a user with a short username, but it was trickier to actually select them in the recipient input. For example one work around is typing the short username followed by a comma which would accept the value.
