Doesn't XenForo already remove image metadata?

Sometimes. XenForo may remove metadata while resizing or re-encoding images, but files stored without modification can retain identifying information. XQ Image Privacy provides dedicated cleaning rather than relying on incidental metadata removal.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG/JPEG/JPE, PNG, WebP, and GIF. Cleaning applies to new post and private-conversation attachments.

Will removing metadata affect image quality?

The cleaner generally preserves compressed image data without recompression. However, removing ICC profiles may affect color appearance, and stripping metadata from certain HDR JPEGs may remove their HDR enhancement. XenForo may independently resize or re-encode images.

Does it remove metadata from existing attachments?

No. Only newly uploaded supported image attachments are processed. Existing attachments are not modified.

Can the metadata and C2PA removal options be controlled separately?

Yes. There are two independent administrator switches, both enabled by default.

Does it guarantee complete anonymity?

No. It removes recognized embedded metadata and C2PA structures. It cannot remove identifying information visible in the image itself, unknown proprietary metadata, or information stored outside the image.
