XenLevel: XP, ranks, quests, badges and a shop to spend it all

XenLevel: XP, ranks, quests, badges and a shop to spend it all 2.0.7

No permission to buy (€39.00)
XenLevel 2.0.7 brings together everything since 2.0.3.

New
  • Popular thread bonus. A thread that reaches the number of replies you choose, from enough different members, earns its author XP once. The bonus stays if posts drop below the threshold later.
  • A reaction for popular threads (optional). Pick a reaction and the account that gives it: every thread that earns the bonus receives it on its first post. Off by default. If another add-on refuses the reaction, the reason is written to the error log.
  • Thread limit over a rolling 24 hours (optional). Limit how many threads a member starts in any 24 hours, community discussions included. Staff and groups with the new "Bypass the thread limit" permission are exempt. 0 by default, so off.
  • Primary user group per rank. Link a rank to a group and members move to it as they rank up, only when their current primary group is itself a rank group. Secondary groups are never touched, and the Admin CP shows a preview first.
Fixed
  • The Recalculate tool and the achievement re-check failed to start since 2.0.0.
  • Recalculating never lowers a member's XP, and popular thread bonuses are credited thread by thread.
  • Icons on the Earn XP page keep their size next to long labels on phones.
  • No more "XenForo add-ons by ©XenSupport" line in your forum footer. The resource page now says Visible branding: No.
Install the archive over any 2.0.x version from Admin CP > Add-ons.
XenLevel 2.0.3 rebuilds the add-on on XenForo itself. Every 1.x feature is still there, and your ranks, achievements, quests, stamps and shop move over on their own.

An XP engine you can trust
  • XP is written atomically: two awards at the same moment can no longer overwrite each other, and a double click in the shop can no longer deliver twice for one payment.
  • Ranks follow XP thresholds, so adding or reordering ranks never breaks rank-up alerts or rank groups. Removing XP in the Admin CP lowers the rank, with a reason the member sees in their history.
  • Reactions can no longer be farmed, negative reactions and direct messages earn nothing, and posts approved by a moderator now earn XP.
  • Real daily caps per XP source in one grid, and deleted or spam-cleaned content can give its XP back (optional).
  • Rank user groups stay in sync, deleted and merged members are handled, and recalculation runs as a resumable background job.
  • Built for busy forums and tested on two million XP lines: XP is credited right after a post is saved, and leaderboards, the recent activity widget, the XP history and the Admin CP log stay fast.

Achievements that show the way
  • Every locked achievement shows its progress (412 / 1,000 posts) and how rare it is (Unlocked by 2.3% of members, with Rare and Legendary labels). Secret achievements stay hidden until unlocked.
  • My progress shows what comes next: the next rank, the three closest achievements, active quests and recent XP.
  • Leaderboard with All time, This month and This week and a pinned Your position row. Quests show when they reset and can now be monthly. Purchases ask for confirmation.
  • A Level tab on member profiles, and one readable XP history with links to the content that earned it.

Native XenForo everywhere
  • New user criteria: total XP earned, rank, number of achievements and specific achievements, for trophies, user group promotions, notices, widgets and ads.
  • Alert preferences per XenLevel alert, rank-ups and achievements in What's new, Most XP on the members page, XP and achievements in Tools > Statistics, real permissions and a dedicated admin permission.
  • Rank badges on messages cost zero extra queries, and the public stylesheet went from 39 KB to 12 KB. It follows light, dark and third-party styles.

For admins
  • A member XP sheet: adjust XP with a reason, grant or revoke achievements and stamps, refund purchases.
  • A rank ladder you edit inline, with a ladder generator and preview. Tabbed forms with a live preview of badges and ranks.
  • XP log and purchases pages, a health check on the dashboard, XML import and export for achievements and stamp sets.

Upgrading: install the archive over any 1.x version from the Admin CP, after a backup. Members who already reached a rank receive its user group, Level reached criteria are converted automatically (take a quick look if your ranks were created out of order), and existing XenLevel alerts move to the new alert type. Requires XenForo 2.3.0 and PHP 8.0 or later.

1.4.3. Your own artwork for every rank: upload an image per tier and it replaces the icon everywhere the rank is shown.
  • Rank images: upload a PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP for any tier in the Admin CP. It replaces the tier icon on the rank ladder, the ranks widget, the profile card, the badge under the username, the tooltip, My progress and the profile tab.
  • Images are resized to 192 px at most with their ratio kept, stored in the data folder, and removed when the tier is deleted or the add-on is uninstalled.
  • Tiers without an image keep their icon, so nothing changes until you upload one.
  • Upgrade: install the archive over 1.4.2 from the Admin CP. One new column on the tiers table, added by the upgrade. No new option or permission.

1.4.2. A polish release: one heading per page, a sub-navigation under the Levels tab, XP figures that follow your language, and six fixes.
  • Sub-navigation under the Levels tab: XP Shop, Quests, Stamp Album (only when enabled), Achievements and My progress (members only).
  • Page titles are no longer repeated: each page keeps one heading, and the cards below are named after their content (All badges, Stamp sets, XP sources, Earned and spent, Active quests, Rewards). The breadcrumb no longer repeats the section you are already in.
  • Tier labels use a soft tint of the tier colour, readable in both the light and the dark variation, instead of a solid block with white text.
  • The shop, quests and history pages open with a one-line explanation.
  • Recent activity widget: amounts are followed by the XP unit. Members without a rank show a label instead of a dash.
  • Admin CP: the achievement list shows the uploaded badge image, and empty cells read "None".
  • Compact XP figures (1.5K, 1.03M) now follow the separators of the visitor's language instead of always using a decimal comma, and round cleanly at the thresholds (9,950 becomes 10K, 999,500 becomes 1M).
  • Achievements page: achievements fed by other add-ons now show a readable requirement label instead of an internal key.
  • Leaderboard: the "load more" control can no longer stay stuck in its loading state after a failed request.
  • The Stamp Album link is hidden in the sidebar and in the Explore widget when the album is turned off in the options.
  • Podium: letter avatars are sized correctly for members without a profile picture.
  • The level badge tooltip now loads its own stylesheet, so it is styled on every page.

XenLevel 1.3.1

The level badge on member profiles is now much more discreet.

Instead of a wide label, it's a small round tier icon — hover it to get the full detail (tier name, level and lifetime XP). It lines up cleanly with the other profile badges, and it renders correctly on older Safari versions too.

XenLevel 1.3.0 is here — a full premium redesign that adapts to your theme

I'll be honest with you: XenLevel has always been solid under the hood, but the pages never really did it justice. A few of you told me the same thing — that it didn't quite feel at home in your theme. So I sat down and rebuilt the entire front end. This is easily the biggest update the add-on has ever had.

It matches your theme now — whatever your theme is

This was the whole point. Instead of shipping my own colours and hoping they don't clash with your style, XenLevel now pulls everything — accents, backgrounds, borders, text — straight from your theme's own properties. Dark theme, light theme, some neon custom accent you spent a weekend on… it just falls in line. Nothing to configure, no CSS to touch. The only colours I left fixed are the gold/silver/bronze on the podium, because bronze should probably look like bronze.

Every page got the treatment

The leaderboard is the centrepiece now: a proper header up top, a row of stat cards for the community numbers, and a real top-three podium (yes, #1 gets a crown) sitting above the ranking list, plus a sidebar with your own progress, the rank ladder and recent activity.

And it's not just the leaderboard. The XP shop, the stamp album, quests, achievements, your history page, the member dashboard — they all share the same clean cards and layout now. The little rank badge under usernames, in posts and on profiles, is a much nicer chip too, and it sits next to your other add-on badges instead of fighting them for space.

Fixes in this release

  • Double-XP events now create and start reliably. The date field was misreading day-first dates (like 30/05/2026) and quietly saving nothing — so the event looked like it never saved and never kicked in. It now reads dates properly, and if one doesn't make sense it tells you straight away instead of failing in silence. Tip: enter dates as 2026-05-30 18:00, or with dashes like 30-05-2026 18:00.
  • Mobile rank/XP badge no longer drifts off to the right on phones — it stays where it belongs.
  • Icons render correctly on a fresh install — the FontAwesome set now rebuilds itself automatically.
  • Progress bars show your accent colour again, including when a member has maxed out their rank.
  • Community stats count real, active members only, so the numbers line up with the leaderboard.
  • XP, level-up and achievement alerts now show the member's avatar instead of a blank placeholder.

Upgrading

It's a straight in-place upgrade — no data changes, works on XenForo 2.3 and up, and the white-label build is in there as always. One small note: if you created a Double-XP event before this update and it looks off, just open it and save it again — that'll store the date the new way.

Thanks for all the feedback that shaped this one. Enjoy the new look. 👍
⚡ XenLevel 1.1.2
Correct tier badges · cleaner leaderboard

A focused maintenance release fixing two things the community asked for. 🛠️

🏷️ The rank badge now shows your TIER
The badge at the top of a member's profile — and under their username in posts, and in the hover tooltip — now shows your configured tier name (Shurmano, Shurmano Logia…) instead of a generic "Level N". It's resolved live from XP, so it always matches what you set in Levels & Tiers and can't fall out of sync.

🏆 Banned members are out of the rankings
Banned and deactivated accounts no longer appear in the leaderboard — and no longer inflate everyone else's rank position. A cleaner, fairer classification.

⬆️ Upgrading: drop-in update, nothing to configure. Tier badges correct themselves immediately on upgrade (no recalculation needed).

XenLevel 1.1.1

Maintenance & integration update

Fixed

  • Stamp Album: on a completed set, the "Completed" badge could overlap the set title and description. It now sits cleanly above the title and stays correct in every language.

New
  • XP economy API (balance / spend / refund): other add-ons can now use XenLevel XP as a real, spendable currency.

Upgrading is one click from the Add-ons page, no configuration required.
XenLevel 1.1.0 - Stamp Album + XP Boosters
Free upgrade for all existing customers

What's new

Stamp Album
- a brand new layer of progression on top of your existing XP and achievements. Members collect stamps across themed sets, watch their album fill up, and earn bonus XP when they complete a whole set. Stamps unlock automatically based on activity (posts, reactions, XP earned, level reached) or when a linked achievement triggers. Four rarity tiers (common, rare, epic, legendary) with visual progression.
  • New public page at /level-album/ with one card per set + progress bars + preview tiles
  • Single-set page showing every stamp inside (locked vs unlocked) with criteria hints
  • "Set completed" celebration alert + bonus XP payout
  • 11 starter stamps across 3 sets shipped on install, ready to use

Personal XP Boosters - a new reward type in the XP shop. Members buy a time-boxed personal multiplier and earn faster while it lasts.
  • Stacks intelligently with global Double-XP events (admin-configurable cap, default 4x)
  • Smart "extend, don't downgrade" rule on re-buy: stronger booster wins on multiplier, duration always adds up
  • Hourly cron quietly resets expired boosters

XP Transaction History - a new public page at /level-history/ where members can see their full earn-and-spend log. Color-coded amounts (green earn, red spend), source icons, paginated.

Admin additions

  • Full ACP CRUD for stamps and stamp sets (drag handles, live preview tile, status toggles)
  • Two new admin menu entries under XenLevel
  • Three new options: album master switch, stamp alert toggle, booster max-stack cap
  • Existing XP shop now accepts a third reward type (booster) alongside collectible and usergroup

Upgrade notes

  • Drop the new files over your existing install
  • Visit ACP > Add-ons > XenLevel, click Upgrade
  • The 11 seed stamps appear in your album immediately. Edit, deactivate or delete them as you like
  • No breaking changes to existing achievements, tiers, quests, events, or the XP shop. Your data is safe.

Behind the scenes

  • The Awarder now applies personal boosters on top of active Double-XP events, capped to keep things sane
  • Achievement unlocks now also award any linked stamps, so the two systems compose naturally
  • LESS premium glassmorphic design, light + dark mode, mobile responsive
  • Vanilla JS, no jQuery dependency, no perf hit on the hot path

Free upgrade. Enjoy.
