Does Post Translator translate the whole forum?
No. Post Translator translates post content and quoted post content only. It does not translate the forum interface, navigation, menus, buttons, thread titles, signatures, private messages, admin pages, moderator pages, or Resource Manager pages.
Which translation provider does version 1.0.1 support?
Version 1.0.1 supports DeepL only.
Do I need a DeepL account?
Yes. You need a DeepL API account and a DeepL API authentication key. A regular DeepL Translator account or regular DeepL web translator account is not enough unless it includes API access.
Is the DeepL API key exposed to visitors?
No. The browser talks to XenForo. XenForo makes the DeepL request server-side. The API key is not placed in public JavaScript or templates.
Does it change the original post?
No. The original post remains unchanged. The translated text appears separately below the original post.
Does it translate quoted text?
Yes. Post Translator translates quoted post content inside posts and displays translated quoted content separately from the translated reply text.
Does it cache translations?
Yes. Translations can be cached by post, provider, target language, and source content hash. If the same post is translated into the same language again and the source post has not changed, the cached translation can be reused.
Do cache hits count against usage limits?
No. Cache hits should not count against the add-on’s monthly provider character limit or per-user monthly character allowance.
Can admins exclude forums?
Yes. Admins can enter excluded node IDs where translation should be disabled. This is recommended for private, staff, support, customer, license, and sensitive forums.
Does the add-on include public XenChef branding?
No. Version 1.0.1 does not add public-facing XenChef branding to translated output.
Can I use one license on staging?
Yes. One license may be used on one production/live XenForo site plus one staging or development site for that same project.
Will more providers be added later?
Additional providers may be considered for a future version. Version 1.0.1 supports DeepL only.
