[DBTech] DragonByte Mail

[DBTech] DragonByte Mail 5.3.0b1

No permission to buy (€14.95)

Update highlights

This version brings significant improvements to the Amazon SES integration, as well as more fine-grained outbound email limitations.

The Daily Stats feature in XenForo will now collect additional stats from your Amazon SES account, if you have configured API credentials in a new setting.

The Outbound Mail limiter now lets you set the number of mails per X minutes/hours/days rather than just a flat X mail per hour. If you have previously configured this setting, please double-check it after upgrading to ensure it's configured correctly for you.

The Inactivity Reminders system now uses the same Criteria system as email validation, and can be configured via a new button in the settings in much the same way.

The last major notable change is the fact that Digests are now sent no earlier than 12 noon and no later than 19 server time. This is to prevent issues where people would receive the digest at midnight and then be buried under other emails received while they were asleep. It is not possible to set this per-user.

For a full list of changes, please see the below change log.

Update highlights

This version brings improvements to the email validation feature in DragonByte Mail. You can now configure the criteria used for finding users who should have their emails validated.

By default, it only searches for users with "Valid" user state and users who are not banned. This was the old functionality, ported into the new settings UI. Furthermore, the "No empty email" and "Last validation cut-off" cannot be customised as these are too important to be changed.

Furthermore, when the forum sends an email to a specific user, that user's last validation record will be updated. This can mean a significant cost reduction if you are validating tens of thousands of users that may have been actively receiving emails already, such as watched thread notifications.

Complete Change Log

Feature: Update last validation date when an email is sent to a user
Feature: Configurable email validation criteria
Change: Implement additional checks for the Reoon email validator

Update highlights

This version updates some of the validation APIs to log "Inbox full" as a soft bounce rather than a hard bounce.

Furthermore, this version updates the various log pages to allow search criteria to persist when clicking back into the search form.

Update highlights

This version fixes an issue where certain email validation APIs were missing from the export, causing them to be unavailable.

Complete Change Log

Fix: Fix missing email validation APIs in the exported data

Update highlights

This version replaces the previous SMTP validation feature with a new API validation system, which can interface with a variety of 3rd party email validation services. Please do be aware that these services are paid. Unfortunately, the old SMTP validation feature has been disabled by remote mail servers like Google and Yahoo.

Furthermore, a bug has been resolved in which enabling both the "max emails per hour" global setting AND disabling the per-mailing list "send instantly" function could cause the mail queue to grow out of control. To fix this in earlier versions, simply either disable max emails per hour or enable "Send instantly" in the mailing list.

Update highlights

This version adds the ability to specify a separate email to use as "From" email when using CLI to validate users' email addresses.

Furthermore, the Amazon SES/SNS bounce and complaint handling should now be much improved. This reworked handling has been in use here @ DBTech for the past 1-2 weeks, so I'm confident it's now working optimally.
