Most forums handle buying and selling in one thread nobody can search. This gives your community a proper marketplace instead: listings with photos, a price, a condition and a location, private offers and trades, a tracked deal once it is agreed, seller reputation, and a record of what things actually sold for.

Price guide

What it does​

• Real listings. Photos, price, location, a condition vocabulary you define, custom fields per category, BBCode descriptions and an optional urgent flag.
• Offers and trades. Members make and counter offers in a private conversation, or propose a swap against up to three of their own listings, with cash on top in either direction.
• A deal tracker. Every concluded sale opens a deal: payment sent, shipped, received, or a handover confirmed in person, with reminders and a way to report a problem to your moderators.
• Reputation that means something. Both sides rate each other after a deal, scores are broken down by seller and buyer, reviews of a completed deal carry a Verified deal badge, and you award certified seller badges yourself.
• A price guide from real sales. Every closed listing records what it went for. Sellers see what similar items sold for while they write, and a gauge on each listing places the asking price among recent sales.
• Wanted ads that find their match. When a wanted ad and a listing for sale look like the same item, both members are alerted.
• Alerts members choose. Saved searches, favourites with price drop and sold alerts, a target price on any listing, and a Follow button on sellers.
• Near me. Optional geolocation, with a map view that lists what it pins.
• Selling as a regular. Pro shops, bumping on a cooldown you set, and optional paid featured listings if you monetise.
• Control that scales. Sub categories with inherited permissions, shared custom fields, categories that name the listing types they accept, a View listings by others permission, per user group limits and moderator logging.

New in 1.5.3​

• A rebuilt marketplace. The marketplace and listing pages are made of XenForo's own building blocks, so they follow your style, light and dark. Gallery, list and map views, a Quick view overlay, and filters that fold away on phones.
• Four new ways to deal. Trades, the deal tracker, wanted ad matching and the price guide all arrive in 1.5.0. They are switched on by default after the upgrade and adjusted under Options.
• Price drops made visible. A badge shows the first asking price struck through, and a member who set a target price is alerted once when the seller reaches it.
• A safer Contact seller. Since 1.5.1 it works on boards where members may not start conversations, with an optional wait in hours for new accounts, a permission to skip it and a safety notice. Since 1.5.2 a member still waiting is told how many hours are left.
• 126 fixes in 1.5.0. Among them paid featuring that now reaches the payment provider, member deletion and merging that take the marketplace into account, and lists that load their photos in one query.
• Featured listings shown once. In 1.5.3 the featured block no longer repeats in the list under it, offers get clear Accept and Counter buttons, and the seller page header shows listings, sales, reviews and followers.

Good to know​

Requires XenForo 2.3.0+ and PHP 8.0+. Geolocation is optional and stays off until you enable it. The price guide is only as good as the sales behind it: it fills in as your members close listings, and sold prices kept private or items that changed hands in a trade are never used. Price drop badges start from a listing's next price change. The offer and deal panels appear on XenForo's own conversation page: if your board replaces conversations with another messaging app, members still find every deal on the listing page and on My deals.
