Hi,

I'm looking for someone who can help convert an old custom forum database into a format that can be imported into XenForo.

Source:
Custom ColdFusion/MemberGate forum running on Microsoft SQL Server.

I've already recovered the database and have direct SQL Server access. I also have the forum content backed up in Excel/CSV.

Archive size:
  • 19,886 discussion threads
  • 178,906 posts and replies
  • 4,343 legacy user records
  • Content from 2011 through 2025

The data I've recovered includes:
  • Thread IDs
  • Thread titles
  • Thread creation dates
  • Message IDs
  • User IDs
  • Usernames/authors
  • Post dates/times
  • Message bodies
  • Thread/reply relationships

My goal is NOT necessarily a full recreation of the old membership system.
I'm building a fresh XenForo community and primarily want to preserve the historical content in an Archive Library.

Ideally, the 19,886 historical discussions would become individual XenForo threads inside the Archive Library, preserving the original thread titles, messages, reply order, usernames and dates.

I am open to either recreating the historical authors or simply displaying attribution within the archived content, for example:

Originally posted by [username] | October 12, 2014

Current members should then be able to browse/search the archive and potentially continue replying to those discussions.

XenForo support has confirmed that XenForo Cloud can comfortably accommodate the archive and that once the data has been converted to XenForo format, they can migrate it to Cloud.

I'm looking for someone experienced with XenForo imports/database conversions who can help with that conversion.

I can provide database schema information, sample data, CSV/Excel exports, or potentially direct SQL Server access depending on what is required.

Please let me know if this is something you can help with and what you would need from me to estimate the project.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

We can definitely help with this migration.

I've been pretty busy with two large forum migrations and then took a couple days off Friday and Monday (first time off in months). My inbox has been pretty full due to this and not enough time in the day. Plus, I had issues a couple times the past 3 weeks with mxroute, my email provider, so I may not have received replies or contact form inquiries.

I'll reach out via DM to get your contact information and will look it up in my email.

Excellent. Thanks for the reply! August was an insane month for me, and totally understand the email back up situation.
