Thank you @Nicolas FR. This was the information I needed. I will discuss this with my moderation team. I suspect we will turn off the ability to send private messages for new members.

That's certainly an option, but doesn't answer my question. If turning on moderation for the first 5 posts includes posts in conversations, this will be a better solution for us than simply shutting off functionality.

@Martok I'm curious if moderating the first 5 posts would include messages posted in conversations (private messages). We occasionally get new people on the forum who seem OK but then they send a scammy suggestion about a car part for sale via a conversation. Our savvy members report this...

Is there a way to tag everyone in a user group in the newer versions of XF? The add-on you mentioned is unmaintained and it's not clear if it works with v2 of XF. (We're running v2.2.12 currently).

Just wanted to say that this thread is still super useful. It's not intuitive where you create additional registration questions. You might think it would be Settings > Options > User registration but nope! Really appreciate being able to find this, y'all.

So did XF previously ignore the Custom Title field if there was only one character in it, but display it if there were more characters? We use the field to show our club officers but don't touch it for most members. Pretty sure the 0 in the field is a leftover artifact from our migration from...

Here are our add-ons: One additional thing that I've been thinking about: we had the issue with 0 in the Custom title field when we migrated our forum from vBulletin a few years ago. At that time, I manually deleted the 0 for many users. Now the same issue has returned.

Updated our forum to v2.2.12 last week. It seems to have inserted a 0 or a 1 into the Custom title field for any user who did not have a custom title -- which is most of our 3,385 forum members. I am now removing these 0s and 1s from our members, one-by-one, so their titles reflect the User...
