I am trying to mimic (as much as possible) our forum's home page at https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com prior to moving it to XF2. We use the left column on essentially all pages for easier forum navigation and advertising.
I'm having trouble getting started in customizing my forum. I've set
$config['development']['enabled'] = true;
But don't, for example, see the widget manager or anything about them.
Where do I find documentation on "side bar stuff"? Is there a single guide to style/template design available? Are there (free?) examples to start from?
Import was from VB3.8.11. When I go to the import system in XF it says: A pending import from vBulletin 3.7, 3.8 has been found. You may restart this import using the button below. When I click the button it says that it was started by another method (I used CLI) but I have already done...
The test import of our import is complete and has been finalized. Yet when I login to the admin control panel it says:
"While an import is running sending the activity summary email to inactive users is disabled."
Have I missed a step?
Actually, I don't remember. There have been some pivotal dates in poker history (e.g., April 15, 2011) where we've had high numbers (well over 10,000) but I'm not sure about that day.

Thanks for any pointers.
We used the CLI. We have over 52 million posts. As I said earlier we spun up a high powered cloud server at the suggestion of Xenforo support. There is no way I was going to run this test import on our production servers.
I did an import of a VB3.8 forum on a cloud server and verified that the resultant xenforo 2.1 forum worked at least to the level of being able to read posts. I then dumped the database and restored it to a database of the same name on the new server, and made a copy of xenforo 2.1 and...
