[XI] Blog [Paid] [Deleted]

I thought someone had made it but I could be recalling that wrong. I have not created anything for that framework.

With the new Widget Portal now out, this would be a good thing to come with 1.1. I know it's probably been asked a dozen times, but is coming soon in 2012, or we talking soon as in after the end of the world? :D

I can't wait for the new version I would definitely install it in my forum

suggestion
  1. interactive homepage
    1. widget for top poster
    2. most liked

How is this going Onimua? I just looked at the other one from Rigel, and it isn't close to anything I would give to my users. Looking at the screenshots of this one, it seems far more polished, though lacking some necessary functionality that I know you're adding in your next release.

Any ETA as yet, beyond this year?

It's scheduled for this year, just the new version is a complete re-code and and a big upgrade from the older version.

A lot of new functionality is planned, as well as a re-design.

I just purchased better blogs. I am happy with it, but have decided to hold off until I try out xi blog. Hopefully it integrates into my site a bit better and is more powerful. Can't wait till it is released.

Formatted text box is needed so members can post comments like they would on the xen forums, like we do here, we can select the colour, font, size, smiles.

Please add this option ASAP and what are the planned updates for this blog? New features/options?

Ok everyone, I know some of you will want to beat me over the head with a big stick, but I want to ask for a little guidance that might seem very basic. Maybe I am more tired than I though right now and not able to wrap my head around this.

My initial thought was to have a blog on my site (it's a photography site). This blog would be like any other blog - written by the site owner, read by the members, comments allowed. Easy. And I suppose I can turn off user permissions and have exactly that.

But, as I see it, what we have here is the ability for all members, permissions allowing, to write blog posts. I seem to be having a little trouble getting to grips with the benefits of that ability. Maybe it's more relevent on different types of site?

Could someone give me an example of why this is a benefit - maybe a site link so that I can browse how this is working.

I appreciate it. :-)

It allows people to have their own personal section of the site in which they can share their opinions and thoughts, outside of the general forum structure.

The main difference between blogs and threads is that blogs main focus is on the OP, whereas threads often focus on discussions, so it mostly depends on whether you find this useful.

As far as permissions, you can limit people from using the blog themselves, and only post your own and give them read permissions/comment permissions.

But their personal section isn't limited as to who views it, right? By that I mean everyone else can view everyone else's post? It's a cool option either way, I was just curious as to how someone might use it. Time to play!

Thank you again.

I have this installed on my live site however I also have a vb 4.2 site that I am trying to convince the users to accept the migration over to XF so I have set up a dummy XF install in a sub folder of the vb site and migrated the data over for them to have a play with...a kind of try before you buy scenario, but I need to convert the blogs over to XF so they can see the blogs working as well...so is there a vb 4.2 importer available?

I already have the blogs imported as an XF forum, just need to convert that forum into blogs for them to have a play

Is it possible with this addon, to offer the features/the blogs only to premium members/specific usergroups?

The permissions are similar to posting threads, so you can limit who can create new entries, and who can comment on them, as well as limit viewing.

Yes, if you PM me there is an additional script I wrote up that will transfer from the forum to the add-on.

Thanks Onimua...the users on the site are voting now on whether we move that site over to XF from vb so I may as well wait now for the vote to end and if it is to move to XF then I will get it from you then and purchase another site licence from you for that site (the site is www.microlightforum.com) - XF is winning in the vote so far
