After upgrade to xf 2.3.8 the navigation tabs for XFRM and XFMG get reset to default positions. If you have created custom tabs and placed the XFRM and XFMG under those. i.e. new parent or different tab name, then those navigation positions get removed and the default tabs get displayed.

Strangely enough the same happened for the Forum tab on the 2.3.8 preview, but on the final release the forum tab did not re-appear after 2.3.8 stable.
Maybe this bug report belongs in both XFMG/XFRM bug report forums, but as this also happened with Forum it seems a general issue.

Thank you for reporting this issue. We couldn't find a fault in how upgrades handle navigation. A tab moved in the admin panel is marked as customised, and upgrades keep its position. That isn't the case when development mode is on, so we need a little more detail to look into this.

  • Is development/debug mode enabled in your config.php ($config['development']['enabled'] or $config['debug']), or was it enabled when you moved these tabs?
  • How did you move the Resources/Media tabs: by editing each entry and changing its parent, by drag-and-drop in the navigation sort page, or with a third-party navigation add-on?
  • Before upgrading, did the edit page for the moved Resources or Media entry show a 'Revert' button (meaning it was marked as customised)?
  • Was anything reset besides the parent position, such as only the tab titles? Were XFRM/XFMG upgraded normally, or uninstalled and reinstalled?
