xfPoints [Paid] [Deleted]

Great! I am checking this thread religiously, so very excited to see that the release will be in a day or two :P?

End of the weekend update, Freebie app is done. All I have left is to create the XenForo license check stuff then I can update xfPortal followed by reopening of the site. Just a quick announcement as well, I have decided that renewal prices will be the same as the original price, the difference is if you purcahse for $20 then you will retain access for 2 years then renewal will be $20 again. If you pay $40 then renewal will be every 3 years at $40. Easier way to maintain user upgrades without having a bunch of upgrades and manually adding people to the renewal upgrade.

$20 for 2 years but $40 for 3 years? Isn't it supposed to be more beneficial to pay for longer periods at a time, not more expensive . . .

Your missing it, xfCart will cost $40 so you only renew that ever 3 years. The way I'm working it is that renewal will be every so many years instead of every year. Look at the list below and you'll see what I'm doing.
  • xfPoints: Pay $20 to start, $20 every 2 years for renewal
  • xfCart: Pay $40 to start, $40 every 3 years for renewal
  • xfClassifieds: Pay $40 to start, $40 every 3 years for renewal
  • xfArticles: Pay $25 to start, pay $25 every 2 years 6 months

NOTE: Prices above are estimates and do not reflect the true price, only did examples and now you know what I'm working on. xfPoints is the only one above with a true price.

I hope I cleared that up for you Azh. :D

Your feature list is not all that extensive compared to the "credits" addon which is described as "working at 50%"
I can think of a whole slew of features, oh wait, dont have too, just view the other credit addons that hardly works :)

I don't give a whole list of features because some things are small. Credits giving points for every month as a member is intensive for a cron so I choose to do yearly reward. Basically I could look at Credits all day but some of the features could be done a bit different. I'm always open to feature suggestions, with this mod I intend for it to grow so get suggestions in now as I'm going to be working on v2 in the coming weeks.

It would help to know what it can fully can do without wasting time of coming up with stuff that may already exist.

The end goal is to give members a varity of options to earn credits as well as spend them....
the bad history of a credit system is that people always can earn, but I have seen little
to what they can spend on, so in most cases I have seen a credit/point system go in the
direction of earning but not being able to spend those credits/points on various things....
The "credit" addon is a prime example of earning the credits, but little to nothing for the
member to spend the credits...whats the point of earning 1000's of credits if they can not
spend them on something useful like forum options....but knowing exactly what you
already have on the table, and future would help out alot with coming up with new ideas....

If a member earns, they have to be able to spend them also, as this gives
the members purpose of earning something that they want to buy with their points....
and not just a bunch of points to say "hey, i got the most points" that alone
sorta negates the point of a credit/point system to begin with....

If I want members to brag about nothing, then I would setup some
type of sports/stock addon, and they can brag until the cows come home....

I am not sure why you mentioned this, so i assume it is one of the features?
for one thing, i would never reward a member just because, why? because most forums have
inactive members anyway....so what would the point be to put a strain on the system to
reward inactive members that pretty much do nothing anyway because they are inactive....
I would reward members based on activity...x amount of points for x amount of activity
then if you do it for the year, then calcuate it out for the year, or have enough options
for those that may have good servers that could handle the cron, and if it is that much
then divide the cron up so it will run for a few days compared to just one day, so if
you split up the cron over a few days, rather then one day, then it will be fine....

see, i can come up with good options/solutions, better if i knew all features, and
more easily if i actually had it so I could go over it with a fine tooth comb....

Mine actually takes into account activity, if they have not posted or logged in for a year they will not receive any points. Now with points, that is all you do is earn. I have asked for others to suggest what they would like points to be spent on but I came up with using XFArcade and BarfiLounge stuff. There can be more added but my points system will be most useful with xfUser+ another of my resources which has an image shop and soon I will release the first version to include cosmetic upgrades without the need to create multiple usergroups.

Also the features I have listed in my initial post are all major features, anything small I leave out is features that I have added to help prevent cheating or what not. You are reading too much into what I'm saying.

You should post the entire feature list, no matter how small, holding back on posting the entire list may convince
someone not to buy because you did not mention that one small feature someone was looking for, and they
thought what you posted was the entire feature list, posting the entire list is no harm, if anything more helpful
to know exactly what you have, then I can go from there on making suggestions.

ok, without going over anything, here is a 15 sec idea that I come up with....

How about a real life pay out system (forum owner has option to disable)
(at least via paypal)

1000 points = $1 (example) (set by admin)
How many credits do you need to cash out? 1000 (set by admin)
(can not cash out until points reach 1000, then payout box lights up...)

Lets say member reaches 1000 points, he now hes more options, he
can continue building his point bank for future retirement, he can buy stuff, umm, like
arcade, stuff already integrated, future stuff, or cash out...

Ok buddy, I am ready to cash out...I have reached my 1000 points, and
I got a hot date tonight, so i want my $1, member has 1000 points, his cash
out box lights up, and clicks the bottom....
(if user had over 1000 points, and he wanted to cash some out, then
it would prorate that amount so if he had 2000 points, and he wanted to
cashed out 1500, then his cash out would be $1.5 (whatever the fixed rate is set too)

System responds: How much do you want to cash out? (set min by admin)
Are you sure you want to cash out?
Member clicks: Yes, thinking he will get laid tonight for $1
(he must not live in the US)

at this point, his points are deducted, an email/converation is
sent to admin saying member cashed out X amount of points for $x.xx
stating his paypal email, point deduction confirmed, bla, bla, then I would send his payment...
(unless there is an automated way for my paypal acct to send him the funds
without my interaction, do not think so, but I am not sure)

Options: can cash out transfered points. (Yes/No)

This would make a great forum booster for a new forum that wants to start
getting posts rather quickly, of course when the forum gets bigger, then
admin can choose to lower the rates, or disable the payout system, or if
posts start slowing down again, then activate the addon again....

==============================
sidenote: Reported posts get x amount of point deductions....
(not because the post was just reported, because admin saw the reported
posted, and considered it was spam, or what-not, then clicks to de-credit poster....

==========

Another Idea: Lets say the member is all out of points and he wants
something but does not want to work his way up again, and his
greedy member *******s will not transfer him any points because he is a ****....

Welcome to Loan Point Bank: (options on/off)
How many points do you want to borrow? (x amount set by admin)
Interest rate (set by admin to deduct points over period of time)
How much do you want to pay back without penalty?
Can member cash out loan points? (hell no) (set by admin)
Can member transfer loan points? (no) (set by admin)

Ok, im tired, you get the idea....

Another reason for owners to run this is because they may earn income off their ads...
so they need members to constantly post, thus creating more forum content for search engines....
Maybe even admin options in each post that only admin can see like: Deduct Points, Add Extra Points, etc....)
but there also needs to be something there when admin takes action, ie: like x points have already been
deducted from this member (spam, quality of post, other); X amount of points have already been given to this member (bonus, quality post, other, etc....

To be honest with you, in most cases, advertising can be a lot more expensive, so
forum owner decides why pay adwords, when he can just pay members for new content....

If I wanted to increase posts, then I would use this compared to
paid advertising, it just makes sense to do so, and i feel it would just
be better to pay members for content then advertise, as you can
always deduct for poor quality content, or at least take back the points
should admin/mod run across poor quality content....

I'll look into the cash out option.

Can we get a system that works with paid items in the resource manager?
I have already been looking into this, I will probably release this in v1.1

I like the options for admins to do from within posts.

I like the options for admins to do from within posts.

It would be a lot quicker then going back into the points system, find the user, then do whatever...
Its also a plus when someone reports a post, then admin/mods can take action on the spot, or do nothing...
and without ever having to go lookup a user to make changes/corrections....

UPDATE: Been working on the license validation, thanks to SheepyCow who provided a github file that I'm using as a starting point for running the check. Unfortunately the cron runs fine but does not update the user soooooo still trying to narrow down the issue. I'm looking to have the check finished by Thursday and the app for users to update their tokens so that it is saved. You only need to provide your generated token once, I will be updating the token in the database with the permanent one that is sent back by XenForo.

Site has been reopened. Get in and register, find the License Validation link at the top and get validated. You validate early means no waiting for the validation process Friday so you can get your license immediately. There is still work going on so don't be alarmed if you see an error or something.

Thanks for waiting so patiently and I hope to see a large number signing up.

FYI: xfCheck is my license validation addon that I will release at a cheap price once I feel it is working properly and I can enable the 24 hour cron.

BIG THANK YOU TO CHRIS DEEMING FOR HELPING WITH xfCheck
