Jaxel updated XF2 [8WR] XenMedio 2 (Media) PRO with a new update entry:

2.0.0.2 - CHANGELOG

  • You can now create threads on submission of media... Created threads simply have embed bbcode.
  • Media and comments are now indexed for searching on creation. You will need to rebuild the search indexes for these content types in order to populate your search index with older content.
  • There are now advanced searching options for the media section context.
  • Sitemap generation options have been added for media.
  • Members online activity details has been added to replace the...

@Jaxel when i select the auto thread, it say that i need a prefix. And it doen't show the thread. But if i put in a forum that not need a prefix, it works.

can you fix auto threads with prefix?

Feature request: ability to add timestamps with associated user(s) and keyword(s).

To give some context, I'm particularly referring to long video archives of 1-on-1 fighting game tournaments that can feature many different users using different characters (keywords). Currently, XenMedio lets you bulk assign many users and characters to a given video, but if the end user is only interested in certain matches by a specific user or character, then the prospect of manually scrubbing through hours worth of footage is pretty daunting.

Similar to how XenTorneo has a "Matches" tab, I envisage something similar in presentation for XenMedio, where each entry has a link that jumps to the timestamp in the video being played. It would also be great if there was an ability to import a CSV in the format of:

timestamp, player1name, player1character, player2name, player2character

Because having to manually enter this information for 100s of matches would be arduous. And a claim based system (again, similar to XenTorneo) might be used to link player names with forum users.

For the fighting game enthusiast, I believe this kind of feature would add great value to a website using the XenMedio addon, and provide more incentive to watch, discuss or share the video via the website rather than the external video service. The search function should be adapted so that one may search for videos featuring a player, character, or player AND character, knowing that the results returned will easily allow them to find those specific matches.

For other (non-fighting game) sites, you might instead consider the ability to define your own metadata associated with the timestamps, where the field types can be configured as either plain text, username or keyword.

Hmm... interesting idea. The problem though is that it could not be a universal system. Since timestamps and jumping to timestamps in an API is only really supported by YouTube.

What if I let the system react to timestamps in the video description. This way they would be unique for the video, and not interfere with any other internal systems that may not react well with other video hosters. Would that work for you?

Functional timestamps in the video description would definitely be a bonus, but would it be a strong (enough?) incentive to watch the video on the website instead of YouTube because functionally they'd be the same? I suppose the fact that since video descriptions are editable independently of YouTube and that the descriptions are indexed then searches for a particular player or character would turn up in a keyword search. This definitely adds value over watching directly on YouTube.

BTW, I'm (selfishly) OK with my proposal not being universal and only working with YouTube because that's the only service I use! And who knows, perhaps in time other APIs will support timestamp navigation?

does this have the ability to create threads in different nodes based on category? this was the only thing keeping me from using the xf1 version, i'd love to see this feature in this version. thanks!

You can select what forum to create a thread in. That's as far as it goes as this addon fully integrates into the content management system, there is no real reason for media threads anymore.

I get no ads on youtube embeds... thats enough reason for me to not use normal youtube. (Raspberry Pi-Hole)
I was referring more to the functionality (things you can/can't do on the website vs youtube) but yeah, that's another incentive I guess.

Speaking of functionality, searching for media via the search page (search/?type=media) only allows you to query by keyword, posted by, and date:

However, on the medias page (media/medias) you have filters for character (keyword) and username, and game:

Is it possible to have these additional fields appear on the search media form as well?

They appear on the filter menu.

Jaxel updated XF2 [8WR] XenMedio 2 (Media) PRO with a new update entry:

2.0.0.4 - CHANGELOG

  • Added javascript which parses media descriptions and comments looking for timestamps. It then converts those strings to links which can seek to specific times in videos. Supported by Dailymotion, Vimeo and YouTube only.
  • "Autoplay next item" in playlists now supported by Dailymotion and Vimeo.
  • You can now define custom values in the search form for media. You will need to rebuild your media search index to process these new values.
  • You can now change pages on the media...

So the problem I have is the video turns into this when i go into the page, in rare cases it's correct. Once I play, it goes small like it should. Recommendations? It works the first time when you goto the page, but then does that after a refresh. AS NOTED IN NEXT POST, this only occurs on using XenCarta (regular pages fine) and yes, i tested it where it was only by itself! This is the only thing holding me up, from there; perfect!
