Here's a shortcut to relieve @Brogan et. al. from having to answer the same question over and over.

Got to admit, I'm really disappointed to see no major additions to Xenforo releases in the last few years. This forum software is SO capable and has a great base for expansion, but as a customer I'm not seeing anything exciting in the pipeline.

I'm very loyal to XenForo and really want to continue using it for the long haul, but there seems to be a general apathy about long term development. Maybe there's lots going on behind the scenes and personal lives that mean development has slowed, but from a customer perspective I am left wondering if XenForo is going to be able to compete in a few years time. IMO, this is still the best forum software around, but that can't be taken for granted much longer.

I can see active bug fixes, support tickets being answered - but no overarching direction for XF. It would be a big shame if things are left to stagnate.

2.3 is going to make everyone agree, I can't believe all this waiting is going to give birth to something that won't be a game changer! If it wasn't then really I'd be disappointed... I had my period of impatience about 2.3 but now, without it being based on anything concrete, I have a very good feeling... The (near?) future will tell!

Yeah I think the wait will be worth it. 😊 So won't judge it until we know all the things that 2.3 will bring. The devs are cooking something.. 👀😁

Yeah, but who's counting

I’m in the same boat, and I do agree here with you.

That’s actually good question, I’m thinking about new project, and probably will do some researches at competitors. If we wait 2+ years for new XF version, and features, the next time when we will see something new, most likely will take 5+ years.

Hopefully the wait is worth it.

I find that our visitors keep coming back because of the content, not for features. I'm excited for 2.3 but it won't make a single bit of difference to just about all of our members, regardless of forum--they didn't join us years (or decades) ago because we had the newest, shiniest forum software. So I don't worry about it that much. Do they like some of the new features? Sure! But they've done without.

Curious? Heck yeah. 😁 I always like to see what the XF developers are up to. But my forums won't die because none of them have 2.3 either.

YMMV. 🤷‍♂️
