In the bug reports from September, 2021 the 2.3 was already mentioned and worked on:
I am really baffled why the delay is this long when it was already being worked on back then.
Does it have to do with the many problems of Froala maybe? Like I think Mike was working on those bugs and since he is not there anymore, that it is hard for the team to resolve the bugs relating to Froala?
Or maybe you don't have a license for the newer versions of Froala? Or maybe FontAwesome? So because of licensing issues you can't ship out a new version?

Notice XF has not updated the copyright to reflect the current year. That's a sign we are on the verge of something HUGE!
It won’t update till they install a newer version than is running.

I am speculating that something happened this summer. They were on track, working on a new customer showcase, talking about upcoming HYS threads, and then it seemed like everything came to a halt. I don't know if there was a falling out between Kier and Chris or what, but something defiantly changed (this is just from an outside view and reading posts here on Xenforo). Who knows?

You remember wrong. The customer showcase thing is from summer 2021, not from this summer (2022). The only thing I can come up with is that there are licensing issues like I believe we won't see the newer FontAwesome collections anymore. Or the Froala editor is a pain to deal with since it creates the most bugs from what I can see.

I thought we had already established that the delay was mostly down to their cloud hosting service? No? I understand some frustration, since for the longest time we were told by staff that the only thing we could count on in regards to 2.3 was that it would be released in 2022, but I'm betting we'll see some kind of announcement within the next couple of months.
